TENNESSEE Titans owner Bud Adams has been slapped with a $267,400 dollar fine by the NFL for a series of obscene gestures directed at Buffalo fans.
The 86-year-old Adams was fined for giving a number of one-finger salutes from his luxury suite during the Titans' 41-17 win over Buffalo on Monday. He later issued an apology saying he got carried away in the excitement of the game.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who attended the game, said the fine was for conduct detrimental to the league.
Goodell watched part of the game from Adams' box but had left by the time the owner gestured to the fans.
"I do realize that those types of things shouldn't happen," Adams said. "I need to specifically apologize to the Bills, their fans, our fans and the NFL. I obviously have a great deal of respect for Ralph Wilson and the history we have shared."
