The Lions signed Michigan native Jon Jansen on Monday, three days after the veteran offensive tackle was released by Washington.
The Redskins selected Jansen in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft, and he proved to be very durable, starting every game until a ruptured Achilles tendon caused him to miss the entire 2004 campaign.
Jansen started all but one game over the next two seasons, but an ankle injury derailed his 2007 season after just one contest. He appeared in 14 games (11 starts) for Washington last year.
